ABSTRACT

Objective To evaluate TriVex based transilluminated powered phlebectomy (TIPP)three-stage management for lower limb venous ulcers. Methods This retrospective study included 86 patients with 103 diseased limbs treated in our hospital from October 2005 to July 2013.All received TriVex TIPP three-stage management. Results After therapy there was no acute cellulitis, skin necrosis nor lower limb deep venous thrombosis. There were 2 cases of subcutaneous ecchymosis,1 case of subcutaneous hematoma,1 case of skin abnormal sensation and 1 case of subcutaneous induration.Ulcers healed within one month postoperation in all cases, while skin abnomalities were alleviated with no ulcer recurrence during the follow-up ranging from 4 to 48 months. Conclusions TriVex TIPP centered threestage management is a good option for lower limb venous ulcer, with shortened healing time, low recurrence rate.

ABSTRACT

Technologies for glycomics usually involve methods for separation and purification of poly-saccharides, and separation, structure resolution, quantification, property investigation and function comment of glycan chains. Because of the different biochemical properties of glycoproteins, proteogly-cans and glycolipids, the separation and purification of polysaccharides involve corresponding fractional precipitation, boric acid affinity, titanium dioxide, affinity chromatography, size exclusion method, and gel filtration chromatography column chromatography methods. The lectins, water affinity chromatogra-phy , solid phase extraction and other technologies could be applied to the oil enrichment of high pure and specific glycan chains. The structure of glycan chains can be analyzed using lectin microarray technolo-gy, mass spectrometry, and derivatization markers of glycan chains. lsotope labelling and metabolic labeling can be used to quantify glycan chains. The glycan biological function can be better understood using glycan chain structure analysis software and database of glycan chains by bioinformatics.

ABSTRACT

Objectives To observe the effects of varied doses of L-thyroxin sodium ( L-T4) on congenital hypothyroidism ( CH) and to determine appropriate dose for early therapeutic intervention. Methods Totally, 108 cases of confirmed CH were divided into two groups (54 in each group). All the cases were administered with L-T4 at varied doses( 10. 1? - 15. 0 ?g ? kg-1? d-1 for large-dose group and 6. 0 - 10. 0 ?g ?kg-1? d-1 for small-dose group) after their parents were trained for basic knowledge of CH by specialists. Their serum levels of T3, T4 and TSH, as well as their body height, weight and head circumference, were measured during follow-up. L-T4 was maintained at doses of 1. 0 - 4. 0 ?g ? kg -1 ? d-1 when their serum levels of T3, T4 and TSH returned to normal. Results All the 108 cases had their clinical symptoms quickly improved and development and growth accelerated after L-T4 substitution. Their serum level of T3 returned to normal in all cases, that of T4 did not return to normal in six cases of large-dose group and in 16 cases of small-dose group, and that of TSH did return to normal in 22 cases of large-dose group and in 39 cases of small-dose group, respectively, after one-month treatment, with a significant difference between the two groups. Cases in large-dose group gained more weight in average than those in small-dose group when they were three months old. Conclusions Early therapeutic intervention for babies with CH with L-thyroxin sodium of 10. 1 -15. 0 ?g ? kg-1? d-1 could quickly correct abnormal function of their thyroid and could avoid abnormal development of their intelligence due to CH.

ABSTRACT

AIM To determine the effects of glycoconjugates and their glycans from Lycium barbarum L. on inhibiting low density lipoprotein (LDL) peroxidation. METHODS Using Cu2+-induced oxidation as a model, the oxidative production of thiobarbituric acid-reactive substances (TBARS) and the LDL electrophoresis migration on agarose gel were measured. RESULTS The effects of glycoconjugates and their glycans from Lycium barbarum L. on inhibiting LDL peroxidation were different, among them, glycoconjugate LbGp5 showed the best effect on inhibiting LDLperoxidation. CONCLUSION The glycoconjugates can inhibit LDL peroxidatin while their glycans showed no effects on inhibiting LDL peroxidation.

ABSTRACT

AIM To elucidate the structure of the glycan of SPPA-1, a glycoconjugate isolated from Spirulina platensis. METHODS Methylation analysis, GC/MS, and 1D, 2DNMR techniques were used to determine the structures of the glycoconjugate (SPPA-1). RESULTS SPPA-1 was only composed of α-D-glucose and shown to be a (1→4) linked α-D-glucan to which a few glucosyl side chains are attached at O-6 of the glucosyl residues of the main chain. CONCLUSION The glycan of SPPA-1 is a new glucan.

ABSTRACT

A polysaccharide SPPC 1 was isolated from spirulina platensis by acetone fractional precipation, free protein was removed by trichloroacetic acid(TCA). Purification of the polysaccharide by Sephadex G 75 colume and CM Sephadex C 50 colume. The homogeneity of this polysaccharide was proved by HPLC and CE. molecular weight was 1.62?10 6. GC showed that the glycoconjugate was composed of Rha,Xyl,Man and Glc. Molar ratio is Rha:Xyl:Man:Glc=6.24:0.37:0.13:0.71. IR, 1HNMR spectrum indicated the presence of ? linkage glycoside. ESR experiment showed that SPPC 1 could eliminate O . 2 radicals.

ABSTRACT

Object To study the isolation and purification of a polysaccharide, obtained from Paecilomyces tenuipes Samson, its molecular weight, sugar composition, and mode of linkage Methods Crude polysaccharide was extracted by water at ambient temperature and purified on Sephadex G 100 column Its monosaccharide composition was determined by ionic ion exchange column after complete hydrolysis with acid Their mode of linkage was determined by methylation and glycosidic linkage established by IR and NMR spectra Results HPLC spectrum showed that the polysaccharide was of homogeneous composition, which was also proved latter by GC MS and NMR Conclusion Polysaccharide obtained from P tenuipes Samson is ? (1→6) linked and composed of only D glucose The molecular weight was 2 05?10 4
